Job Overview:
The Country Manager will be responsible for overseeing all sales, distribution, and operational activities within Malaysia. This role involves managing the entire country operations, including driving sales growth, expanding market share, and ensuring effective distribution strategies. The Country Manager will be expected to develop and execute business plans, manage a local team, and build strong relationships with key stakeholders such as customers, suppliers, and distributors.
Key Responsibility Area
- Sales & Business Development:
- Develop and implement country-specific sales strategies to achieve business goals, revenue and profit targets.
- You will be responsible to drive the sales in key categories within large accounts (like Watsons), as well as leading a team.
- Prepare and lead key account negotiations.
- Key contributor in building a joint business plan and input to the commercial vision by sharing account perspective, risks and opportunities.
- Build, accurate forecasts and achieve sales targets including revenue, profit and market share.
- Direct responsibility for a large customer investment plan. Responsible for the planning, management implementation and co-creation of optimisation strategies.
- o Accelerate the business growth in e-commerce, digital and other sales channels
- Identify new business opportunities, expand market presence, and drive sales in the country.
- Maintain and expand relationships with key customers, partners, and distributors.
- Monitor competitor activities and market trends, and adapt sales strategies accordingly.
- Oversee and support the sales team to ensure effective lead generation, sales pipeline management, and customer conversion.
2.Operational Management:
- Manage the distribution network, ensuring timely delivery of products and services to customers.
- Oversee supply chain management to optimize logistics and reduce operational costs.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Develop and monitor operational KPIs to assess efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
3.Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, motivate, and develop the local team (sales, logistics, customer service, etc.).
- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide coaching, and ensure high levels of team engagement.
- Ensure recruitment and retention of top talent for the country operations.
- Foster a culture of high performance, collaboration, and accountability
4.Financial Management:
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and P&L responsibilities for the Malaysia operations.
- Ensure cost-effective operations, monitor expenses, optimized management of inventory and maximize profitability.
- Report on financial performance and recommend improvements to the leadership team.
5.Marketing & Branding:
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create and execute country-specific marketing campaigns.
- Ensure the company brand is represented consistently across all sales and marketing activities.
- Assess market conditions and customer preferences to adapt marketing strategies.
6.Customer Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and partners.
- Act as the primary point of contact for major accounts and high-value customers.
- Address customer concerns and issues promptly, ensuring a high level of satisfaction.
7.Strategic Planning & Reporting:
- Contribute to the development of long-term business strategies for growth within the country.
- Provide regular reports to regional or global leadership on market performance, trends, and opportunities.
- Analyze business performance and recommend strategies for improvement.
ESSENTIAL
- Proven experience in demonstrating a multi-fold growth for a small size business is a must.
- A proven track record of over 10 years in a senior position in sales and marketing whether supplier, distributor or retailer, having lead a multi-functional set of direct reports and responsibilities
- Beauty Commercial and Marketing experience – whether mass or masstige is preferred
- Strong understanding of the Malaysia Beauty landscape and trade channels like Watsons is essential
- Proven ability to establish successful business models to win in Beauty – end to end brand building from consideration to purchase in store (offline and online):
- Identify, analyse and communicate key strategic vision and choices to win and how to execute
- Develop, recommend and implement sales and marketing strategies to deliver this
- Leadership Track record of leading a diverse team from senior levels down to promoter and merchandiser establishing a high performance culture in a team through coaching, mentoring, and leadership.
- P&L business acumen:
Cost analysis techniques as well as budget preparation and fiscal management.
Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills.
Oriented to business profitability, full use of available resources, whilst winning with the end user.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and consensus-building skills and the ability to work in an environment which requires flexibility and adaptability.
