Job Overview
The Senior Director Talent Development & Performance is responsible for the strategy, implementation and impact of the continuous improvement and performance of all Bloomingdale’s colleagues. As a business partner to both Store and Central leadership, this individual will create a comprehensive, integrated enterprise-wide talent strategy and execute processes that attract top talent, retain high performers, and offer ongoing development for all at Bloomingdale’s. The Senior Director Talent Development & Performance will build organizational capability and capacity; strategically shaping the future of Bloomingdale’s and creating a positive business impact through the effective utilization of our workforce.
Sets overall Talent Development and Performance Strategies for Bloomingdale’s key talent initiatives:
- Development: College Programs, Ongoing Development Hourly & Professional, Onboarding, HIPO Programs, BLT Enrichment
- Talent Performance: Talent Review & Succession Planning, Annual Performance (Goal Setting, LDR, Review Boards, Annual), Check-ins, PTG and Spot Bonus
- Culture Pulse Survey: Communication strategy, analysis, and response strategy
Essential Functions
- Create and drive strategy and framework for talent performance and development across all areas of the business.
- Develop talent and succession planning processes that identify Top Talent for customized development, ensures ready now successors for critical roles.
- Develop and manage the processes for defining and ensuring a strong, diverse internal bench of ready candidates for key roles in partnership with HR Business Partners and Talent Acquisition teams.
- Plan & facilitate robust talent reviews that yield alignment on Top Talent development, succession & external acquisition needs.
- Ensure talent strategies address current and anticipated skill gaps in alignment and integrated with other talent and business initiatives.
- Establish collaborative relationships with business leaders and other support functions ensuring effective cross functional partnerships to deliver efficient and meaningful talent strategies.
- Define the impact of Talent Development programs across Bloomingdale’s, establish key metrics to assess value and impact.
- Lead a team that builds an organizational commitment to talent and leadership development initiatives by demonstrating the delivered value of the investment in the development of employees.
- Proactively and effectively address components of workplace culture that impede organizational and individual effectiveness in a manner consistent with the organization’s values.
Qualifications
- Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree required with 10-15+ years of HR and 5-10 years of Business Unit experience or Masters with 10-15+ years of experience preferred.
- Communication Skill: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read, write and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manuals.
- Reasoning Ability: Strong critical thinker with a strategic mindset. Proven ability to put in place multifaceted HR strategies that support and drive business outcomes.
- Physical Demands: This position involves regular walking, standing, hearing, and talking. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Involves close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Other Skills: Strong leadership profile, business acumen and client support orientation. A proven influencer with experience in organizational design and effectiveness.
- Work Hours: Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs. Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
