Summary
The VP, Human Resources is responsible for leading the human resources function of the company and serving as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on all aspects of human resources management.
Responsible for fostering a people centric environment by developing deep relationships with business leaders to thoroughly understand business needs and priorities and translating them into executable people strategies focused on acquiring, onboarding and retaining top talent. Also responsible for ensuring that human resources policies are updated, fair and consistently applied.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning: Lead the human resources function to better support the achievement of the business mission and strategic imperatives of the company. This is accomplished by working closely with senior leaders to implement and oversee programs for recruitment, retention, talent assessment, succession, talent development, total rewards, and work force planning.
- Talent Management: Oversee talent acquisition, development, talent assessment, and succession to build future leadership within the organization, and to enable top-performing teams throughout the company.
- Total Rewards: Oversee the company’s compensation and benefit plans, ensuring that they support the company’s business objectives, and are competitive in the peer marketplace, cost-effective, compliance with applicable laws and meet the needs of team members.
- Talent Attraction and Acquisition: Responsible for overseeing the outsourced team that leads talent attraction and lead flow to fill current and expected roles across the business and remains keenly focused on effectively and efficiently delivering qualified applicant flow for Aaron’s store locations across the US and Canada.
- HR Operations: Oversee and supervise human resource professionals responsible for all employee relations matters and ensure the execution and implementation of the overall strategy and vision for internal development, performance management, and team member engagement across the company.
- Team Member Engagement: Innovate and lead company-wide initiatives that continuously improve team member engagement and contribute to the company’s reputation as an attractive environment for which to work and build a career.
- Payroll: Oversee the human resources professionals responsible for payroll to ensure that team member payments and reporting to the business are accurate and timely.
- Diversity and Inclusion: Oversee companywide efforts focused on fostering a more inclusive culture and driving greater diversity in the company’s workforce.
Education & Experience
- Strategic Leadership: Brings at least 10 years of experience in people leadership roles including HR roles or HR-adjacent roles. Relevant Industry Experience: Has significant experience in complex, multi-unit businesses that include complex technology requirements, call center operations, logistical operations, and supply chain challenges; some past exposure to leading HR in a retail environment is considered a plus.
- Functional Breadth: Experience in a wide range of human resources issues including recruiting, retention, employee relations, broader talent management, total rewards, and culture shaping.
- Business and Legal Acumen: Possesses a solid grasp of financial and corporate goals and proactively demonstrates the role the human resources function can play in achieving corporate objectives and cultural change. Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment where analytical skills and agility are equally important. Has a working knowledge of workplace legal requirements and history of working within the complexities of employment laws across multiple jurisdictions.
- Trusted Advisor: Experience serving as a trusted advisor to senior leadership in a large organization; brings very strong stakeholder management skills and is astute at interfacing effectively across all levels of the organization, building consensus, and influencing appropriately.
- Transformation Experience: Hands-on experience leading and driving organization transformation in a complex, growth-oriented consumer- or guest-focused company.
