As an Assistant Human Resources Manager, your role is to assist the Head of Human Resources overseeing the effective management of human resources within the ship management company. This is a newly created position and requires you to be knowledgeable in both maritime industry regulations and human resources management principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment and Staffing : To develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates in various recruitment channels. Screen resumes, conduct interviews, and make staffing advisory aligned with the company’s needs.
Training and Development : To design and coordinate training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of onshore and offshore members. Ensure compliance with international standards and regulations.
Performance Management : To conduct performance appraisals, set goals, provide feedback, and address any issues related to employee performance or behavior.
Compensation and Benefits : To manage salary scales, benefits packages, and ensure they are competitive within the industry. Process payroll and handle any discrepancies that may arise.
Reporting and Analysis : To prepare regular reports on HR metrics, data analysis, such as staff turnover rates, recruitment statistics, and training effectiveness. Use data to assist decisions and improve HR practices.
Staff Relations : To act a liaison between the company and employees, including handling grievances, disputes, and ensuring harmonious workplace relations.
Compliance and Safety : To ensure all HR policies and procedures comply with maritime laws, regulations, and safety standards. Implement measures to promote a safe working environment onshore and offshore.
Policy Development : To contribute to the creation and revision of HR policies and procedures to align with the Group HR, best practices and regulatory changes.
Crisis Management : To assist in developing and implementing crisis management plans in case of emergencies or incidents involving onshore and offshore members.
System Record Keeping : To maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including contracts, certifications, training records and accident reports.
To be successful in this role, you should have a bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related discipline, as well as at least 5 years’ human resources experience in sizable organizations. You need excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of labour laws and maritime regulations, experience in HR management, and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining a high level of professionalism. You should also possess good problem-solving abilities and advisory skills in complex situations.
