LHH Recruitment Solutions has partnered with a growing organization, and they are seeking a motivated Director of People and Culture/Human Resources Director to join their team in Chicago, IL. You will lead HR initiatives and cultivate a positive organizational culture. This strategic role requires a proactive leader who is passionate about people development and culture leadership. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR management within a fast-paced, less structured environment, such as a start-up or high-growth company. Key Responsibilities:
- People and Culture Leadership: Champion a culture of inclusivity, engagement, and high performance. Develop and implement initiatives that promote employee satisfaction and retention.
- HR Strategy Development: Lead the creation and execution of HR strategies aligned with business goals, focusing on talent acquisition, employee development, and organizational development.
- Employee Development: Oversee comprehensive training and development programs, including coaching and mentoring initiatives for leadership development.
- Performance Management: Implement performance management processes, including performance improvement plans, that foster continuous feedback and development.
- Employee Relations: Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and management, effectively managing employee relations issues and fostering a supportive work environment.
- Payroll Oversight: Ensure accurate payroll processes and compliance, leveraging experience with Paylocity HRIS.
- Resource Planning and Talent Management: Drive talent management initiatives, ensuring they attract, develop, and retain top talent across a diverse workforce.
- Change Management: Lead change management efforts during organizational transitions, ensuring clear communication and support for employees throughout the process.
- Remote Team Management: Effectively manage and mentor an HR team in a remote work environment, promoting collaboration and engagement.
- Multi-State Compliance: Maintain knowledge of multi-state labor and employment laws, ensuring compliance across all locations.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressive HR experience, with a focus on people and culture leadership.
- Proven experience managing an HR team in a remote work environment.
- Familiarity with payroll oversight and employee development processes.
- Proficient in an ATS (Greenhouse preferred) and HRIS (Paylocity preferred).
- Experience supporting both hourly and salaried employee populations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multi-state labor and employment laws.
- Strong change management skills and adaptability to evolving business needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an empathetic approach to employee relations.
- High energy, passionate about HR initiatives, and able to wear multiple hats in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Experience using Google Suite and Slack is a plus.
