Description
The Director of T&C manages the tactical operations of the T&C department and has oversight for policies, procedures, and programs. Specifically, the Director of T&C has responsibility for these functional areas: ensuring timely administration of semi-monthly payroll, benefits administration, employee relations, training and development, compensation management, organizational development and talent acquisition.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership & HR Operations
- Oversee the operational processes for payroll, benefits, and 401K administration, ensuring alignment with Centella's operational needs, with a focus on streamlining processes, improving efficiency, and delivering value to the business.
- Provide day to day leadership and oversight of the T&C department, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and fostering a workplace culture that promotes employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
- Manage bi-weekly payroll processing and coordinate with the Controller to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance. Ensure timely processing, with a target of 99% accuracy and on-time delivery each pay period.
- Oversee the healthcare enrollment process, ensuring accurate and timely enrollment for new hires, managing qualifying events and ensuring that HR systems are updated with any changes. Target: Achieve 100% accuracy and timely updates in the HR system for all benefits-related changes.
- Lead 401(k) contribution management, including semi-monthly funding, tracking matching contributions, and loan payments in collaboration with Fidelity. Maintain a 100% compliance rate for 401(k) contributions and ensure employees are fully supported through the process.
- Partner with VP T&C in the creation and management of policies and procedures, ensuring an accurate employee handbook.
- Partner with VP T&C on developing and managing annual departmental budget, including oversight and reconciliation of invoices.
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including Vets 4212, EEO-1, Section 125 Plan, and AAP, ensuring timely submission and 100% accuracy in all required reports.
- Oversight for tracking and documentation of all workplace accidents, including car accidents reported by employees who drive for the company. Ensure all incidents are properly documented, and necessary drug tests are scheduled as per company guidelines. Maintain compliance with safety guidelines and 100% incident reporting.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and promote safety initiatives across Centella. Partner with relevant teams to monitor, implement, and track safety-related processes to create a safer work environment.
- Oversee and enhance workplace safety programs in collaboration with relevant departments, ensuring that safety is integrated into Centella's culture.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Oversee employee onboarding and separations and talent acquisition efforts, ensuring support of the T&C Manager in delivering these programs.
- Collaborate with the VP T&C on special projects and organizational development initiatives. Take ownership of key T&C initiatives and ensure alignment with strategic business goals.
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Handle employee relations matters, acting as a strategic partner to ensure workplace issues are resolved in a timely, effective, and consistent manner. Develop and maintain a positive, productive work environment by proactively addressing employee concerns, improving morale, and fostering open communication.
- Manage Centella's Total Rewards Program, ensuring competitive compensation, benefits, and career development opportunities. This includes maintaining salary grades, compensation structures, 401(k) plans, and other employee benefits, with a focus on enhancing employee satisfaction and retention.
- Partnering with the VP T&C, actively manage and evolve the company’s employee recognition programs, driving a culture of acknowledgment, appreciation, and motivation.
- Oversight for the annual Performance Review process and Annual Goal Setting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related field is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 7 + years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing multiple HR functions.
- SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification is highly desirable.
- Proven track record of leading managing employee relations, payroll & benefits administration, compensation, and compliance.
- Expertise in talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, and organizational development.
- Strong understanding of employment law, compliance standards, and HR best practices across various industries.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization, including senior leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, lead cross-functional teams, and drive measurable results.

- Proficiency in HRIS systems, specifically in Ceridian Dayforce, and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Emotional Intelligence: Skilled in navigating complex interpersonal dynamics and maintaining a balanced, calm approach in difficult situations.
- Data-Driven: Ability to leverage analytics and data to drive decisions and optimize HR processes.
