Purpose of the Role
As the People & Development Partner you will work closely with department heads taking ownership for the people matters within your business areas. You will demonstrate your business acumen and develop a thorough understanding of your business areas to ensure business & people strategies are aligned and implemented.
Duties and Responsibilities
You will:
- Provide support and guidance to your client groups through coaching, advice, influence, employee development and implementing change initiatives.
- Provide talent and performance management support to your client groups.
- Ensure talent is recognised, developed and stretched and poor performance is appropriately managed.
- Work with managers to identify skill & knowledge gaps for current and future needs, implementing development plans to maximise professional growth opportunities.
- Drive employee engagement plans to ensure productivity and retention of talent.
- Maintain knowledge of legal requirements for employers and suggest updates as needed to ensure compliance.
- Research, develop and proposes policy updates, new policies and updates to guidance and procedures to support the changing needs of the business.
- Provide trusted advice across the employee lifecycle and assist with any employee relation needs, including conflict resolution, investigations, grievances and disciplinaries.
- Challenge team culture and behaviours to ensure they are consistent with organisational values.
- Where appropriate you will also challenge business decisions within your client groups to ensure they are consistent, fair and sustainable at all times.
- Have a strong understanding of progressive HR practices and will successfully implement initiatives through positive influence and effective communication.
- Support the People & Development Director with driving the People & Development agenda, raising the profile of the team and maintaining team deliverables.

Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Proven experience in a senior HR leadership role partnering with executive leaders and business heads
- Demonstratable experience of influencing and implementing change
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships
- Ability to influence at senior levels
- Thorough generalist knowledge and understanding of all HR functions, legislation, and best practices
- Impeccable communication skills – both written and verbal
- Effective application and articulation of employment law
- Able to read and interpret data
- Highly proficient with MS Office suite, including Excel and PowerPoint
