Our People Team work closely with our managers to support our employees through their time with Scape. This includes recruitment, onboarding, absence management, learning and development, offboarding, employee benefits and most importantly enhancing our employee experience. We dont just sit behind a desk; we are part of the Scape operational team who work across both HQ and the sites to make sure we partner our managers and understand and support our employees.
People Manager
The People Manager will take the lead on operational HR activities including recruitment, onboarding, learning and development, compensation, performance management, employee relations, and compliance across sites and HQ.
This is an excellent opportunity to take on your first People Manager position in a busy multi-site environment where you can develop your skills and make an impact.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Provide comprehensive HR advice and guidance to managers on various processes including probations, disciplinaries, grievances, performance management and absence management in line with policies and procedures (SOPs).
- Keep up to date with legislation changes, recommend policy or process changes where required.
- Develop clear and well thought out SOPs to support People Team processes which are kept up to date and supported by training delivery or materials where needed.
- Conduct regular audits both across department activities and across sites to ensure adherence to company policies and UK legislation and compliance to internal processes.
- Manage and oversee processes across the employee lifecycle such as onboarding, offboarding, probation, contract changes, leavers.
- Take ownership and supporting across all recruitment activities including updating job descriptions, adding vacancies and supporting with interviews, attending job fairs, and building and developing external relationships.
- Support the annual salary review, benchmarking salaries, preparing letters and updating records.
- Taking ownership of monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc reporting, making recommendations to improve processes and measuring the effectiveness of People Team activities.
- Overseeing the annual appraisal process.
- Assist with the development and delivery of internal training both in person and via the e-learning platform aimed at developing people manager capabilities and employee development.
- Oversee mandatory training ensuring ongoing compliance across both in-person and e-learning.
- Foster a positive work environment by implementing initiatives to improve employee engagement as well as the employee experience of the organisation as a workplace
- Assist with rota management and payroll preparation.
- Have a full understanding of all people team systems with the ability to action required tasks and reporting activities, suggesting areas for further system development and capabilities.
- To maintain confidentiality across all required activities.
- Lead on various projects and engagement activities.
- Bring ideas and suggestions to the team to support process improvements and employee initiatives.
- Seeking support and guidance from the team as and when required.
- Taking ownership of self-development.

- CIPD level 5
- Ability to work proactively and independently.
- Competent knowledge of UK employment law
- Must have excellent organisational skills and initiative, with the ability to manage the day-to-day HR processes effectively
- Experience of supporting managers with complex employee relations issues.
- Knowledge of HR systems.
- Strong influencing and negotiating skills.
- People oriented and results driven.
- Highly adaptable to the changing business needs.
- Proven HR generalist experience including payroll management and recruitment.
