Our client, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), is seeking to add to staff a Manager, People and Culture, who will be responsible for the implementation and day-to-day management of many HR functions and ESA’s DC office operations. The Manager will report to the Chief People Officer (CPO) and work with other team members across the administrative team to identify, design, develop, and implement continuous improvements in all phases of HR and operational functions.
This position is based in Washington, DC. ESA employees are in the office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and may work remotely Monday and Friday. The salary range for this position is 70-90K per year.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversees and plans engagement events/programs for team members, such as our social committee and wellness initiatives
- Works with CPO to drive employee experience initiatives
- Conducts payroll administration on a semi-monthly basis for ESA and its related entities, the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) and the ESA Foundation (ESAF); manages the upkeep of ESA’s payroll/HR system
- Collects, sorts, maintains, and disseminates payroll records
- Ensures accurate timekeeping for all exempt employees according to FLSA policy
- Tracks and maintains employee leave accruals
- Assists CPO with training/development programs and initiatives
- Assists in compensation and performance management, including budget development, and the development of employee competencies/evaluation criteria
- Leads talent recruitment functions such as job posting, sourcing, interviewing, and reference checking
- Manages onboarding and offboarding processes, including employee benefit enrollments/terminations and employee web pay profiles creation/termination
- Leads orientation for new hires
- Manages existing integration and training programs for new hires, such as ESA’s Buddy program
- Performs reconciliation and administration of benefits, including 401k, medical, dental, FSA, transit, ancillary and more
- Conducts ongoing administration of ESA’s 401k plan; downloads reports and statements from 401k plan
- Supports day-to-day HR functions for ESA, ESRB and ESAF
- Researches and keeps abreast of new HR trends; makes HR project suggestions
- Works with the CPO to administer quarterly employee engagement surveys; analyzes data for both HR and operational analysis
- Maintains and manages personnel documents
- Manages HR/employee compliance in conjunction with the CPO
Operational Duties & Responsibilities:
- Works with CPO to maintain relationship with property management to promptly address any concerns including presentation of interior
- Works closely with the Office Administrator and serves as a backup if they are out of the office
- In conjunction with CPO, negotiates vendor rates as needed to manage expenses and seeks areas for cost-reduction; tracks maintenance of existing contracts
- Reviews budget monthly and takes note of any significant variances and updates CPO and CFO as necessary
- Primary contact for escalated facility access and security issues
- Assists with budget development and spending management for HR/benefits and operations
- Assists with cross-departmental projects as needed
Education and/or Experience:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in human resources
- Experience in recruiting and interview selection
- Knowledge of payroll and running payroll using Paylocity strongly preferred
Skills & Abilities:
- High level of confidentiality, discretion, and integrity
- Strong technology proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel),
- Adobe, and payroll/benefits sites and portals
- Demonstrated reliability, impeccable attention to detail, strong organizational and analytical skills
- Excellent writing skills and ability to communicate well with internal staff and others
- Ability to manage multiple projects at one time
- Ability to occasionally arrive prior to normal business hours and/or depart after normal business hours during high volume work periods (advanced notice will be provided by supervisor)
