This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our growing team of cardiac staff. We are looking for a BSE Adult Accredited Echocardiographer to deliver our sports cardiology screening services to football clubs across the UK.
This role has an increasing and variable workload, the individual needs to be able to respond to a fast-paced environment with the flexibility to travel and adapt as required.
We are looking to recruit an experienced Cardiac physiologist. Customer service is crucial to the delivery of our services and maintaining relationships across our client base. You must be self motivated and have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively at all levels.
As a Specialist Sports Cardiac Physiologist, you will be report into the Lead Echocardiographer and Directors, delivering our quality echo service across our sports cardiology clients, namely amateur/professional footballers across UK football clubs.
Location: It is envisaged that this role will primarily be based along the M4 corridor, delivering screening on location to various sports clubs. On occasion locations further afield may be required, covering quite a large area. As such, travel is an essential requirement of the role.
You will be expected to have an understanding of the physiological changes to the athletes heart and differentiation from pathology.
You will be responsible for performing a Resting ECG and a Transthoracic Echocardiogram to BSE guidance and additional measurements to support elite athlete sports cardiology assessments (additional training will be provided to support this if needed.)
This is a unique opportunity to work with Elite sports people and their medical teams and provides an opportunity for those with an interest in this area.
The role involves screening at the club or the organisations training facilities and as such a willingness to travel is essential for this role.
We have a digital capability that allows staff to work remotely and connect with our cardiologists and share images and reports.
We have regular departmental meetings with CPD, clinical presentations and teaching from our cardiologists.
External CPD is encouraged and support is given to attend conferences and scientific meetings.
Job Task
- To carry out diagnostic echocardiography and be able to report clinical echo studies independently and promptly, to British Society of Echocardiography guidelines.
- To carry out when required 12 lead resting ECG, occasional Fitting of 24hr, 48hr, 7 day Holter ECG, and 24hr BP. The ability to analyse 24hr/48hr/7day ECG is also required.
- To report on and code 12 Lead Resting ECG, 24hr Ambulatory Blood Pressure and 24hr, 48hr, 7 day Holter ECG’s
- To assist in monitoring stock levels of consumables and technical equipment.
- To promote a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care within the Company, ensuring a patient-centred approach to care
- To actively encourage the development of innovative practices within the department
- To participate in research projects as required and overseen by the Lead Echocardiographer
- To provide teaching and support to other members of the department learning echocardiography
- To work co-operatively and collaboratively with members of other professions and disciplines, ensuring the provision of a progressive learning environment for all staff
- To contribute to the professional leadership of the technical staff within the service
- To actively encourage and develop a multidisciplinary approach to all PML services
- To maintain own proficiency in echocardiography and other technical skills and ensure that own mandatory training certificates are current
- To manage own time to ensure balance between clinical and administrative activities
- To organise and arrange one’s own travel between client locations, travel expenses will be covered for any business related activities. Dependant on client location, overnight stay may, on occasion, be required. Expenses supported in line with company policies.

Skills and Experience
- Excellent Organisational and administrative skills
- Proven work experience as an Echocardiographer
- An interest in Sports screening/the Athletic heart
- Ability to advise and work with senior members of staff
- Personable with strong communication capabilities with clients, patients and across all levels of the business.
- Driven and determined
- A full driving licence to travel between client locations
- A flexible approach, during peak seasons weekend work is likely to be required, and occasional evening.
- Must be fully accredited to BSC.
