About the Role:
The VP of HR & People Operations is a key member of the leadership team, accountable for the development and execution of people strategies that support business objectives throughout the organization, reporting directly to the CEO. This role focuses on driving improvements to organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, performance management, employee relations and talent management in our organization. The VP plays a critical role in aligning our people, processes and practices to support leaders in the optimal execution of the company’s strategic objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Talent Acquisition: Delivers recruitment efforts to attract, hire, and retain top talent; work with department heads to identify talent needs across the organization, support creation of job descriptions and manage the recruitment and hiring process.
- Employee Relations & Engagement: Champion and foster company values and culture ensuring a positive and productive work environment; oversee employee engagement surveys and drive initiatives to address improvement areas; identify and address employee concerns.
- Performance Management: Implement effective performance management systems that drive accountability and continuous improvement. Provide coaching and development to leaders and managers to enhance their leadership effectiveness.
- Compensation and Benefits: Owns full lifecycle of payroll and benefits, including tax filing, compliance testing, ADA, etc. Define compensation structures and benefit programs to ensure competitive offerings that attract and retain domestic and international employees; update compensation banding, bonuses, and other benefit offerings; oversee payroll and benefit administration.
- Compliance and Legal: Ensure SERHANT adheres to all local, state, federal and international employment laws and regulations, including labor laws, workplace safety, and anti-discrimination policies; oversee tax registration and filing, employee offer letter templates, policies and procedures, as well as the employee handbook.
- People Strategy: Develop the organization’s people strategy and goals covering workforce planning, talent management and succession planning; identify ways to support this strategy by leading and implementing strategic HR initiatives.
- Learning & Development: Implement internal training programs that help employees develop skills and grow within the company, incl. leadership development, compliance training, and skill-based training.
- Organizational Development & Change Management: Support organizational change efforts, ensuring internal communication efforts to keep employees aligned with the company’s evolving goals and challenges.
- HR Technology & Metrics: Leverage HR software and data analytics to improve people operations efficiency, streamline HR processes, and make data-driven decisions. Provide regular reports to the executive team on HR performance, including workforce analytics and employee engagement levels in alignment with department budget.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior role.
- Proven experience leading People Operations teams and working with executive leadership, particularly within the real estate industry or high growth start ups
- Functional expertise in employee relations, performance and talent management, change management, culture and engagement, compensation and benefits, and talent acquisition.
- HR certifications such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent required.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to align People Operations strategies with business objectives.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build strong relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now and other HR technology platforms, including data analytics.

Compensation
- Salary range: $160,000 - $210,000 (depending on candidate experience)

- This role reports in person in SoHo, NY a minimum of three days per week.
