Our client is a leading technology company seeking a Director of People and Culture to lead and develop HR strategies, programs and processes aligned with business objectives.
Reporting to the CEO, this Leader will nurture and develop a strong company culture, actively foster an engaging work environment, and manage comprehensive HR functions including recruitment, talent development, engagement, employee relations, and compliance. As a strategic, yet hands-on leader, the Director will align HR programs to business outcomes while independently handling day-to-day HR operations in their dynamic, high-growth setting, ensuring HR practices attract top talent and promote an industry-leading culture.
This leader will assess the organization and help determine where to focus building strong impactful talent and other programs to drive a culture of respect and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
HR Strategy Development: Align HR initiatives with business objectives, focusing on long-term growth and cultural evolution.
Independent, Self-Sufficient Leadership: Operate as a self-sufficient HR leader, independently managing all HR functions in a small, fast-paced environment. Balance high-level strategic thinking with hands-on execution of key HR tasks without the support of a larger HR team.
Performance Management & Organizational Alignment: Revamp performance review systems to ensure that individual goals align with company objectives and are implemented consistently.
Employee Relations & Change Management: Act as a trusted advisor on employee relations, ensuring a positive workplace culture. Lead change management initiatives, guiding teams through cultural shifts and organizational transformations. Being the voice of the employee and communicating how they fit into the bigger picture.
Coaching: Provide coaching to the CEO and leadership team, providing advise and guidance about people and business matters.
Compliance & HR Technology: Ensure compliance with labor laws across multiple states and industry regulations while implementing HR technology solutions to streamline processes such as payroll, benefits, and performance management.
Compensation & Benefits Strategy: Complete payroll transition, ensuring coordination between HR, accounting, and finance. Tie compensation structures to company goals and performance metrics.
Learning & Development Programs: Develop learning initiatives to support employee growth and leadership development, ensuring readiness for future roles in a rapidly scaling company.
Employee Engagement: Lead efforts to foster an engaging, performance-driven culture.
Talent Acquisition & Forecasting: Build oversee and execute recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes.
Professional Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field; MBA or Master’s degree preferred.
- 10+ years of HR or People Operations experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing the full HR function.
- Early experience in a company with strong HR practices combined with experience in small teams or as a solo HR leader with the ability to both strategize and execute HR functions independently.
- Proven ability to operate self-sufficiently managing high-level HR strategy while also performing day-to-day tactical HR tasks, including recruitment, onboarding, and performance management.
- Experience navigating high-pressure environments with limited HR resources.
- Deep experience coaching leaders and pushing back effectively.
- Strong understanding of HR technology, including HRIS, ATS, payroll and performance management systems.
- Ability to implement systems and processes in lean environments.
- Demonstrated success in change management, leading cultural and organizational transformations.
- Expertise in compensation strategy (salary, bonuses, equity, and benefits) aligned with company growth targets.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to coach and mentor managers and other team members despite being a small team.
