Director of Human Resources (HR)
• 15+ years of HR experience within professional services or investment banking, including at least 10 years in a strategic HR or HR business partner capacity
• Located in or willing to relocate to Chicago, Dallas, or New York
Our client is a business advisory, interim management, and investment banking firm with a focus on serving middle-market companies.
The Director of HR will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and oversee junior HR and learning and development team members. This role requires a hands-on professional who thrives in a small, collaborative team environment, leading various HR functions and initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop and execute a comprehensive human resources strategy, including initiatives such as cross-border talent development programs, employee engagement surveys, and workforce planning enhancements
• Manage and enhance performance management processes, including competency frameworks, career progression pathways, performance evaluation systems, review cycles, and bi-annual performance calibration
• Drive the continuous development of firm-wide learning and development initiatives, collaborating with the L&D team on training roadmaps, program design and delivery, vendor management, and learning platform oversight
• Oversee total rewards programs, including managing relationships with benefits providers, leading the annual benefits review, coordinating employee benefits education and enrolment, supporting retirement plan administration, conducting market benchmarking, and ensuring competitive compensation offerings
• Lead the design and implementation of culture and employee engagement initiatives
• Establish and maintain a skills assessment framework and associated database
• Support organizational design and workforce planning efforts
• Manage and refine onboarding and offboarding processes
• Assist with compliance requirements for FINRA-registered broker-dealer representatives
• Respond to ad hoc HR inquiries and operational needs
• Conduct research on employment laws and HR compliance issues, identify potential risks, and develop mitigation strategies
• Track and analyze workforce data and HR metrics to support business decisions
• Engage with external employment legal advisors when necessary
• Provide coaching and development support to junior team members
• Share best practices and lead internal training sessions as needed
• Contribute to building an inclusive, high-performance organizational culture
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier academic institution
• Located in or willing to relocate to Chicago, Dallas, or New York
• Commitment to an in-office, team-oriented work culture (4 days per week)
• 15+ years of HR experience within professional services or investment banking, including at least 10 years in a strategic HR or HR business partner capacity
• Familiarity with state and federal labor and employment laws (e.g., OSHA, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII, DOL regulations) preferred
• Proven expertise in managing employee relations with empathy, clarity, and sound judgment
• Experience working in a fast-paced, lean team environment
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with senior executives, private equity professionals, legal advisors, managers, and staff
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook for preparing high-quality presentations and reports
• Responsiveness and adaptability in a dynamic work environment
• Demonstrated success in managing responsibilities under tight deadlines
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including professional email etiquette
• Superior organizational abilities and attention to detail
• Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset
COMPENSATION
Total Compensation: $350,000 - $450,000
