The Beau Jo’s Human Resource Director (HRD) is responsible for planning and leading the HR department and its hiring protocols. Oversee HR systems, handle employee relations, ensure compliance with regulations, manage HR budgets, assess staffing needs, hire employees, design training programs, injured worker process, and develop compensation plans. You will also develop corporate HR plans, support the human factor in the Company, oversee HR initiatives, and ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations. You will report to the President.
Work Activities
The Work Activities Include But Are Not Limited To
Communication and Leadership
- Provide detailed information in a concise summarized manner ensuring that all levels of the Company have been notified
- Liaise between departments or other groups to improve function or communication
- Advise others on legal or regulatory compliance matters
- Recommend organizational process or policy changes
- Administer compensation or benefits programs
- Analyze date to inform operational decisions or activities
- Manage HR activities
- Communicate organizational policies and procedures
- Advise others on career or personal development
- Coordinate special events or programs
- Assess employee performance
Process & Procedure
- Assist in the recruitment, selection, and hiring of personnel and provide advice on best practices for selection
- Interview employees, customers, or others to collect information
- Investigate workplace accidents/ illnesses
- Prepare reports related to compliance matters
- Analyze data to inform personnel decisions
- Compile operational data
- Analyze job requirements and content to establish employee classification in job roles
- Maintain personnel records
- Administer and manage employee surveys, assessments, and testing
Restaurant Operations
- Represent the organization in external relations
- Negotiate labor disputes
- Conduct employee training programs
- Maintain knowledge of current developments in AOE
- Completing necessary (e-)paperwork with high attention-to-detail such as sales, inventory, and staff reports
- Adherence to Beau Jo’s Management Company’s standards, quality expectations, procedures, and safety initiatives
- Facilitate organizational development and change

Job Context
The HRD will be scheduled and work a minimum of 40 hours weekly and maintain a home office. Each restaurant will have their own set-up and design which includes stairs, uneven flooring, and slippery conditions. You will be expected to visit each location on an as needed basis or weekly to ensure that employees are engaged and have the ability to speak with you directly. Each location has at least one (1) general manager and two (2) assistant managers (depending on size). This role contains high amounts of sitting, walking and lifting up to 10 lbs. will be needed briefly. Working hours are determined by the needs of the Company and the restaurants as well as scheduled events. You will lead by example to all staff to include your professionalism, appearance, and leadership skills.
Work Performance
The HRD will be evaluated on a quarterly basis by the President. Your performance is measured on:
- Ability to resolve employee-related concerns and grievances
- Keep the Company in administrative compliance
- Meet deadlines
- Ensure accurate onboarding/ offboarding, reporting, and correspondence is completed within specified timeframes

Job Competencies
Upon Hire, The HRD Must
- Have a master’s degree a/o a minimum of 5-7 years of progressive HR management experience with proven results
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Understand profit and loss statements
- Be skilled in Microsoft Office Suite
- Be accessible and available during restaurant operating hours
After hire or within 60 days of hire, the HRD must:
- Learn Beau Jo’s Management Companies policies and procedures
- Complete Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) Training and Pass
