Hotel AKA Alexandria is seeking talented Assistant Director of Food and Beverage!
AKA Hotels & Hotel Residences is currently looking for a creative and dedicated Assistant Director of Food and Beverage for, Hotel AKA Alexandria, who has a proven track record of success and a passion for hospitality ready for the next challenge in their career.
This role will assist in leading the property’s food and beverage operations, including Restaurants/Bars, Room Service, and Banquets/Catering, where applicable. As well as ensuring the F&B employee satisfaction, focusing on growing revenues, and maximizing the financial performance of the department.
Team Member Responsibilities:
- Develop and grow the business whilst delivering accessible, world-class food and service.
- Maximize profitability by driving a quality-focused culture.
- Develop a high performing team committed to the highest quality product.
- Implement and manage processes, which regulate key activities and legal requirements.
- Ensure that through technical knowledge, exceptional skill and passion for hospitality, banquets, the lounge and outlets (a.Cafe and a.Terrace) will match stakeholder expectations and exceed agreed targets from both a commercial and a quality perspective.
- Monitor the maintenance of the premises and equipment at all times and report on required action to the Operations Team.
- Ensure that the business is effectively managed and staffed at all times.
- Monitor the quality of food, beverage and service to make sure they are in accordance with company standards.
- Proactively manage the security of cash, product and equipment. Reporting any concerns or recommendations.
- Ensure the business is run to the company and legal standards in regards to Hygiene, Health and Safety, and Licensing.
- Work and liaise with the management team to ensure all areas of concern are dealt with, including up to date HACCP’s, fire drills and alarm testing.
- Manage and coordinate all aspects of Health and Safety within the food & beverage departments & kitchen, ensuring that all guidelines, risk assessments, safe systems of work are implemented and that all employees are fully trained in all aspects of health and safety.
- Work closely with all heads of department to maintain a stable team so that service levels are maintained and the recruitment & training cost to the business are minimized.
- Ensure that appropriate training is in place for all departments (BOH & FOH).
- Effectively utilize all EPOS systems to ensure that optimum service delivery & profit generation is achieved.
- Meet on a regular basis with the Operations and Sales team and ensure open communication with regards to key decisions.
- Oversee the development and implementation of departmental strategies and ensures implementation of the brand service strategy and brand initiatives.
- Oversee the preparation and update of individual Departmental Operations Manuals.
- Maintain strong, professional relationships with the relevant representatives from competition restaurants, hotels and other local community organizations/authorities.
- Conduct regular communication meetings and ensure that departmental briefings and meetings are effective and conducted as necessary.
- Produce the annual budget along with the Director of Food & Beverage and the Food & Beverage Manager.
- Control payroll in line with the budget and business levels though effective scheduling.
- Participate in establishing and implementing a Sales and Marketing plan to deliver expected budgets.
- Manage employees in an open and approachable manner to assist in maximizing employee retention.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Associates degree or higher.
- 2-3 years of experience in a Food & Beverage management/department head position.
- Ability to be flexible with work schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Food Handler Certification. Certified Food Service Professional preferred.
- Skills Needed: Motivational, verbal communication, written communication and manageability.
