Position Summary
The Vice President of People will lead the organization’s human resources and people strategy, ensuring the company attracts, develops, and retains top talent while fostering a culture of engagement, inclusion, and high performance. This role will oversee all aspects of people operations, talent acquisition, employee engagement, diversity & inclusion, performance management, HR compliance, and workforce planning while directly managing and developing the People team to support business objectives.
As a key member of the executive leadership team, the VP of People will drive strategic initiatives that enhance employee experience, strengthen company culture, and optimize workforce performance. This role requires a hands-on leader who can balance high-level strategy with tactical execution in a fast-paced environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesPeople Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive people strategy that aligns with the company’s growth objectives and core values.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on organizational development, workforce planning, talent management, and succession planning.
- Lead change management initiatives to support business transformation, scalability, and process improvement.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Development
- Oversee and enhance the recruiting and onboarding processes, ensuring a seamless candidate and new-hire experience that supports high-volume hiring needs.
- Equip managers with training, tools, and resources to lead high-performing teams effectively.
- Implement employee engagement and retention initiatives to foster a positive workplace culture, improve job satisfaction, and reduce turnover.
Performance, Compensation, & Benefits
- Design and execute performance management programs that support business goals, drive accountability, and enhance leadership development.
- Lead total compensation strategy, including salary structure, incentives, and rewards programs, to attract and retain top talent.
- Develop and manage a competitive benefits strategy, ensuring market alignment and cost-effectiveness while addressing employee needs.
Compliance, DEIBA, & Multi-State HR Operations
- Ensure HR compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws, optimizing policies and processes for efficiency and risk mitigation.
- Oversee HR functions and compliance across multiple states, ensuring policies and procedures align with regional and federal regulations.
- Drive initiatives supporting DEIBA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging & Accessibility) and workplace equity.
Data-Driven Decision Making & HR Technology
- Utilize data-driven insights to measure the effectiveness of HR programs, optimize workforce planning, and drive continuous improvement.
- Optimize HR technology and tools, including Paycom HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, etc.), to enhance efficiency and automation in HR operations.
Qualifications & Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
- 8+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 3+ years at the executive level, is required.
- HR certification (SPHR, PHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) is preferred.
- Proven track record in fast-paced, high-volume recruiting and high-turnover industries (transportation, logistics, or similar industries preferred).
- Experience leading HR functions at scale, including talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, and leadership development.
- Expertise in total compensation strategy, including benefits, salary structures, and incentive programs.
- Experience with HR compliance, labor laws, and data-driven decision-making across multi-state operations.
- Experience working with Paycom HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite is required.
- Experience with 90.io or other EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) tools is preferred.
- Spanish-speaking skills are a plus.
