This is a hybrid position based out of our Kirkland, WA office.
Position Overview:
The Manager of Human Resources (HR) will lead the HR function and provide direction and operational support for all HR activities within the company. As a small technology organization, we require a hands-on leader who can manage and scale HR systems and processes while ensuring an exceptional employee experience. This role will emphasize day-to-day operations, as well as managing talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management and feedback, and compliance, with a strong focus on aligning HR initiatives with business objectives to drive growth.
Key Responsibilities:
HR Operations Management:
- Lead day-to-day HR operations, ensuring the smooth execution of HR processes and services, including onboarding, employee lifecycle management, benefits management, and performance management systems.
- Manage and oversee the HRIS (Paylocity) to streamline HR processes, track employee data, and generate reports.
- Manage HR policies and procedures, ensuring they are up-to-date, compliant with legal regulations, and aligned with company culture and goals.
- Oversee the design and strategy of our compensation and benefits programs, ensuring competitiveness in the market while balancing budgetary constraints.
- Manages the HR team (currently an HR Coordinator), providing mentoring, feedback and coaching to the team.
Employee Experience & Engagement:
- Oversee the recruitment and hiring process, ensuring a fair, consistent process, as well as a process that produces high quality hires. Manage internal/external recruiting resources, and partner closely with hiring managers to define roles and hiring needs.
- Ensure an efficient onboarding process that provides a positive employee experience, sets clear expectations, and integrates new hires into the company culture.
- Support employee engagement initiatives through surveys, focus groups, and feedback channels, and implement strategies to enhance employee morale and retention.
- Work to improve employee retention by developing initiatives around career development, engagement, recognition, and growth opportunities.
- Oversee the performance management and feedback process, including goal-setting, regular check-ins, and performance feedback.
- Act as a key point of contact for employee concerns, ensuring a high level of employee satisfaction and resolving conflicts and disputes in a fair and consistent manner.
Additional responsibilities:
- Lead and support initiatives that enhance company culture and foster a positive working environment.
- Build the capacity of managers through coaching and skill development.
- Provide data-driven insights to leadership, using HR analytics to help inform business decisions related to staffing, performance, retention, and compensation.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in employment law (federal, state and local regulations) and HR best practices, proactively implementing necessary changes to mitigate risk.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. SHRM-CP or PHR certification is preferred.
- Experience: At least 5-7 years of progressive HR experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a management role. Experience in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment, ideally within a tech or startup company.
Preferred:
- Experience in scaling HR functions for a growing technology company.
- Proven ability to develop and implement HR strategies that align with business goals.
- Familiarity with technology-driven solutions for HR challenges (e.g., performance management platforms, employee engagement tools).
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong understanding of HR operations, including payroll, benefits administration, employee relations, and compliance.
- Expertise in HRIS, applicant tracking systems, and other HR software.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven coaching abilities, coaching employees and managers at all levels.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
