The City of Delta is searching for a human resources visionary to step into the role of General Manager, Human Resources. The General Manager, Human Resources, is a key member of the City’s senior leadership team and reports directly to the City Manager.

Responsibilities
- Lead a high-performing human resources team while fostering a culture of collaboration, trust and service excellence.
- Design and execute an ambitious vision to position the City of Delta as a top employer in British Columbia.
- Develop and implement robust human resources strategies that align with the City’s long-term goals.
- Oversee organizational transformation initiatives, enhancing change management and service levels across departments.
- Drive the expansion of the human resources team by bringing in exceptional talent and building capacity for the future.
- Provide strategic leadership in areas such as employee engagement, diversity and inclusion, and health and wellness.
- Partner with senior leadership to create impactful policies and initiatives that support a thriving workforce.
- Establish rigorous processes for recruitment, retention, and talent development to attract and retain top-tier talent.
- Act as a champion for modernizing human resources practices and introducing innovative approaches to employee relations.
- Collaborate with union leadership and senior management to enhance labour relations and drive positive outcomes.
Qualifications
- Post secondary degree in Human Resources or Business Administration, along with a CPHR designation.
- Track record of organizational transformation and building high-performing teams.
- Demonstrated expertise in change management, talent development, and cultivating service excellence.
- Previous experience within a local government or municipal environment is an asset.
- A strong vision and strategic approach to achieve recognition as a top employer.
- A collaborative and innovative mindset with the ability to inspire teams and influence organizational culture.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills to navigate complex organizational dynamics.
- Experience in leading initiatives that improve processes, enhance service delivery, and build capacity.
- Experience with collective bargaining within a multi-union environment and past experience developing and implementing processes for compensation and classification.
- Valid B.C. Driver’s Licence.
