Hungry Bear Media is a busy and successful independent TV production company operating from offices in London and Glasgow. It’s a vibrant, friendly, and hardworking environment and we’re looking for a qualified and experienced HR Manager who can work with us and help create an inclusive and safe work environment.
The role is flexible as long as you can work approximately 15 hours per week and have the necessary experience and qualifications. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who, for example, can only work during school hours or has other commitments - either for a few hours a day or full days each week.
As we are a television production company, previous experience as an HR Manager in the media and entertainment sector would be an advantage.
The Role
- Keep up to date with and ensure compliance with UK employment legislation
- Educate and train management in any significant changes to employment law
- Foster a positive work culture promoting diversity, inclusion and well-being
- Propose and launch initiatives that positively build on organisation culture and improve organisational efficiency and effectiveness across departments
- Act as a trusted advisor on HR-related matters and advocate for employees, providing guidance and support
- Manage employment relations issues such as performance, grievances, disciplinaries and employee welfare
- Advise managers on employee relations, well-being and performance, as well as any training needs
- Develop and maintain HR policies
- Make sure employees adhere to company polices, and act as advisor to managers on employee policies
- Identify and support talent development
- Collaborate with Senior Management and Production teams to support recruitment and selection processes, ensuring we attract and onboard top talent
- Review resumes, conduct initial screenings, and schedule interviews. Evaluate candidates' qualifications and suitability for the roles
- Assume responsibility for senior level recruitment, negotiating agency rates, and managing recruitment costs
Skills and Experience Required:
- Degree educated with CIPD level 5+ or equivalent post-graduate HR degree desirable
- Proven experience of at least 4 years in a similar HR role, preferably within the media and entertainment sector
- Strong understanding of HR practices, UK employment laws, recruitment and operational management
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage sensitive situations effectively
- The ability to build relationships with candidates and team members.
- Ability to work autonomously
