Our mission is to reshape aviation. We’re building a new jet that delivers 50% lower fuel burn and emissions based entirely on a new airframe shape, the blended wing body. The future we all want from aviation requires this new shape which puts us on a path to zero emissions flight.
JetZero is developing a blended wing aircraft. It uses 50% less fuel and can accommodate zero-emission hydrogen propulsion. JetZero is the inevitable solution to sustainable air travel.
We are looking for a Head of People who is passionate about performance management, culture-building, and scaling teams across multiple locations. Please note that this role must be local to the southern California region and be able to be onsite at least 3 days a week.
Position Overview
The Head of People will be responsible for scaling JetZero's workforce while ensuring we maintain and protect our high-performing, collaborative culture. As a member of the leadership team, you will design and implement key HR functions like performance management, management training, and hiring processes to support both exempt and non-exempt employees across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Driver and Protector of Culture: Champion and safeguard our culture by embedding JetZero's values into every facet of people operations, including hiring, onboarding, and performance management.
- Scaling the Workforce: Build and manage processes that allow us to grow our teams rapidly, both in exempt and non-exempt roles, across multiple locations.
- Performance Management: Design and implement a performance management system that enables continuous growth and development, aligning with business goals.
- Culture Building: Develop and maintain initiatives that foster collaboration, transparency, and innovation within the team, ensuring that the JetZero culture scales as the company does.
- Management Training: Create and lead training programs to build effective leaders within JetZero, focusing on fostering strong managerial skills across all levels.
- Recruitment and Onboarding: Work closely with Recruiting team and hiring managers to design effective recruitment strategies and onboard talent in a way that strengthens our culture from Day 1.
- HR Operations: Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations and develop efficient HR operations for a scaling workforce.

Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in People/HR roles, with 5+ years in a leadership position at a fast-scaling company.
- Proven track record of building and scaling people strategies for both exempt and non-exempt employees across multiple locations.
- Experience in creating and managing performance management programs.
- Expertise in culture development and employee engagement.
- Experience designing and delivering management training and leadership development programs.
- Knowledge of HR compliance and labor laws, especially related to non-exempt employees.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering diverse, equitable, and inclusive environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization.

Salary Range: $175,000 - $220,000
