You will work alongside your operational colleagues in our purpose-built Wiltshire head office and manufacturing facility. The heart of the organisation, this is where we proudly hand-make every single G Plan sofa and chair. A G Plan sofa is an investment piece and our consumers know they are buying a sofa designed with the values of enduring comfort and quality at its core.
Job Role
Supporting the Operations Director at Melksham, the post holder will provide proactive HR support and guidance to around 170 employees. The role holder will take pride and ensure a first-class operational HR support - coaching, problem resolution and case management as well as supporting and promoting group initiatives to make the G Plan site a great place to work.
Key responsibilities
- To build strong relationships with managers and lead roles, offering advice, coaching and support on all aspects of people management.
- To develop profile in relevant business area; attend regular team meetings, communication group meetings and one to ones with key managers.
- To provide guidance on the application of all HR policies and procedures, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability and maternity.
- To deliver effective case management for employee relations, long term sickness, personal injury and any employment tribunal claims.
- Collaborate with other HR site leads to deliver and ensure Recruitment, Reward, Learning and Development, Occupational Health and Diversity to ensure a comprehensive and seamless HR service.
- To drive local application of Sofa Brands International Group initiatives in business areas.
- To support restructure projects, preparing redundancy documentation, cost analysis and handling consultation meetings.
- To assist in the management of annual HR processes such as Personal Development Reviews, bonus and pay review.
- To deliver pay benchmarking, equal pay reviews and career mapping.
- Provide regular reporting on case load and KPI's.
- To undertake or contribute to HR projects and initiatives as required.
- To develop and facilitate training modules for managers in relevant HR topics such as Employment Law.

- Strong grounding in employment law and confidence in commercial application.
- Flexible in style and scope of work, able to accommodate a variety of different clients, projects and attitudes and adjust their approach accordingly.
- Action oriented, resilient and with a can do approach.
- Highly adaptable and comfortable working with a degree of ambiguity.
- Experience of working in a busy HR environment as an HR Manager or an experienced HR Advisor in a standalone role is essential.
- Previous experience of working within a unionised environment.
Desirable skills and experience
- Manufacturing business background with experience of implementing and supporting HR related projects.
- CIPD qualified with relevant business experience.
