The Director of Human Resources will be responsible for directing the overall leadership and people strategy for the hotel. The ideal candidate will act as an employee champion and a leader of change. As a business partner for all departments, this role is responsible for employee engagement, performance management, succession planning, talent acquisition, training and development, change management, comp & benefits, labor management, and operational excellence. This position is also part of the Executive Committee.
Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and guidance by overseeing talent acquisition, employee career development, succession planning, retention programs, training and leadership development
- Develop initiatives, policies and programs to complement existing practices and create consistency across the resort
- Oversee benefit and compensation plans to ensure cost efficiencies and attractiveness to retain top talent
- Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the goals and strategy of the hotel related to staffing, recruitment and retention.
- Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organizations human resource compliance and strategy needs.
- Oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
- Conducts research and analysis of hospitality trends including review of reports and metrics from the organizations human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
- Monitors and ensures the resorts compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
- Fosters a positive work environment through effective communication and conflict resolution.
- Handles service professional grievances and disciplinary actions providing coaching and feedback to employees and management.
- Ensures competitive and fair compensation practices.
- Implements training programs to enhance employee skills and performance.
- Promotes continuous learning and professional development.
- Act as a business partner to all departments establishing HR alignment.
- Develops and implements departmental budget.
- Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.

- Serve as a trusted advisor and counsel to the Managing Director & Executive Team
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in human resources or management
- 8+ years' of professional Director of HR experience required, ideally from a luxury, hospitality, service-oriented industry. Golf resort experience preferred but not required.
- Independent hotel experience preferred.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR highly preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize work
