Digital Marketing & Content Creation Manager

- Location: Hybrid position based in New York. Must be available for in-person events and occasional travels.
About Us:
KoreanAmericanStory.org is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to capture, preserve and share stories of the Korean American experience. We started in 2010 with our first series, Legacy Project, with the goal of documenting stories of first-generation Korean Americans who immigrated in the 1970s and 1980s. Since then, the organization has expanded to capture stories across generations and communities, as well as producing community events like K-Pod, NAYA, ROAR Story Slam, Writers Block and our annual gala. We value storytelling as a way to humanize our experiences while celebrating the diversity of our community.
The Role:
Korean American Story seeks a talented and creative Digital Marketing & Content Creation Manager to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial in elevating our online presence and engaging our audience through compelling content and strategic marketing initiatives. The ideal candidate is a passionate marketer with a strong understanding of digital marketing strategies, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for storytelling.
This position will require an ability to work with a team of contractors, volunteers, and community partners as well as the staff of KoreanAmericanStory.org. We are a virtual organization so you will be working remotely most of the time, with some in-person meetings, in addition to working some nights and weekends as needed. Events are both virtual and in-person, and travel is required for the in-person events. The in-person and/or virtual events and meetings may happen at non-traditional work hours.
Key Responsibilities:
• Content Creation: Develop and produce engaging content for various digital platforms, including social media (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok etc.), blog posts, email newsletters, and website copy. This includes writing, editing, and proofreading content to ensure it aligns with our brand voice and messaging.
• Social Media & Community Management: Manage and maintain our social media channels, creating and scheduling content and engaging with our audience in a timely and authentic manner. Monitor social media trends and analytics to optimize our strategy.
• Website Management: Maintain and update our website, ensuring it is visually appealing, user-friendly, and optimized for search engines. This includes managing content, SEO, and website analytics.
• External Communications: Handle incoming inquiries via email, phone, and social media, providing timely and informative responses.
• SEO/SEM: Implement SEO best practices to improve website visibility and utilize SEM strategies (e.g., Google Ads) to increase website traffic and generate leads.
• Analytics: Track and analyze website traffic, social media engagement, and email campaign performance to measure ROI and optimize our strategies.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the production and events team to ensure consistent branding and messaging across all marketing channels.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
• 2+ years of experience in digital marketing and content creation
• Strong understanding of social media platforms and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite)
• Working knowledge of website platforms (WordPress, Squarespace, etc.)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) is a plus
• Experience with SEO and SEM is preferred
• Knowledge of Korean language and Korean American culture is a plus
Additional Skills:
• Experience with graphic design and video editing is a plus
• Project management skills and experience is a plus
• Sense of humor & love for good food is a big plus!
Salary: $65,000 for 40 hours per week; salary may be negotiable commensurate with experience.
