Role and Responsibilities
At WeTravel, we see People Operations as a product team—focused on building scalable HR solutions. The People Operations Manager will lead the team to simplify and automate processes, ensuring compliance and efficiency for almost 250 global employees (a mix of remote employees and contractors). This role is central to creating seamless HR experiences and driving efficiency across all people processes.
Build scalable, automated
people operations products to streamline core HR processes, with a strong focus on compensation & benefits, designing key policies, improving employee experience, and ensuring compliance for a global workforce.
People Operations:
- Lead and coach People Operations Specialists to develop scalable HR processes for employees and contractors.
- Build a solid operational model that ensures clear, efficient, and scalable People Operations processes.
- Automate workflows (using HiBob, Deel, Justworks etc.) to streamline onboarding, offboarding, and employee lifecycle processes.
- Oversee (through your people ops team) employee documentation, contracts, and employment changes.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Own everything rewards related; design and implement our compensation philosophy, build a compensation framework and, together with our Benefits & Payroll admin, manage global compensation and benefits programs (PTO, 401K, health, etc.) to ensure fairness, transparency, and market competitiveness.
- Design and lead the annual salary review, using market data to ensure pay equity and alignment with company goals.
- Establish and manage promotion cycles, ensuring clear, fair, and transparent processes that support employee growth.
- Ensure compliance with tax and regulatory requirements across all regions (US/Netherlands).
- Oversee equity/stock option plans, ensuring clear communication and alignment with compensation strategy.
HR Policies & Compliance:
- Develop and update global HR policies and handbooks, ensuring they are aligned with international laws (e.g., GDPR) and support a positive employee experience.
- Standardize HR processes globally for contractors and full-time employees, ensuring compliance and scalability.
- Oversee regulatory tasks such as work visas, work permits, 30% rulings, expat relocations, and global compliance for a distributed workforce.
Payroll & Reporting [future]
- Oversee global payroll for employees and contractors, ensuring accuracy and compliance across regions.
- Collaborate with the Payroll Specialist to implement a unified payroll solution for all countries.
- Deliver payroll and benefits reports to finance and conduct regular payroll audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
HR Business Partnering
- Partner with senior leaders on various people topics;
- Supporting VP People with leading key HR projects (career mapping, talent reviews, DEI initiatives).
- Design and implement a new people ops model to support the business.
- Together with your team, establish foundational HR processes to ensure smooth operations and scalability.
- Design and lead the annual salary & benefits review (2025), using market data to ensure pay equity and alignment with company goals.
- Improve and automate workflows across onboarding, offboarding, and employee management.
- Ensure full compliance with global employment laws, including visa management, GDPR, and other regulatory requirements.
- Design and implement updated HR policies, such as PTO.
- Standardize global processes for both contractors and full-time employees, creating efficient, compliant, and scalable systems. Starting with guidelines on employment contracts (contract chain, settlements, etc).
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Proven and extensive experience People Operations, compensation & benefits, and HR automation across global regions (US/EMEA).
- Strong background in building scalable HR policies and processes for remote and global teams.
- Expertise in automating people workflows, having experience in working with modern HR systems like HiBob.
- Solid knowledge of global compliance (GDPR, labor laws) for contractors and full-time employees.
- Bonus: Experience in startups or scale-ups, thriving in highly dynamic and fast-paced environments.
