As the Head of Employee Relations Strategy, you will play a pivotal role in defining strategies, practices, and policies to maintain a harmonious and compliant workplace environment across McDonald’s global enterprise. In partnership, oversee the quality of Employee Relations strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and values.
Essential Duties:
- Develop Global Employee Relations Strategy: Formulate a comprehensive strategy and approach, including technology platform and tools, for managing employee relations issues at McDonald’s worldwide, fostering a positive work environment and enhancing employee engagement.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Lead the design and implementation of a robust compliance and risk management strategy, identifying potential risks and implementing proactive measures to mitigate them effectively.
- Concerns Management and Investigations: Oversee and partner with other investigating teams, to development of a thorough concerns management and investigations strategy, ensuring prompt and equitable resolution of employee grievances, conflicts, and misconduct issues. This will include a global Service Delivery model, with a consistent organization design, performance metrics and operating model(s) across global markets.
- Leave & Absence Management: Develop global leave & absence policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant employment laws and industry standards while balancing organizational needs and employee well-being.
- Employee Separations Strategy: Develop policies and procedures for employee separations that uphold legal requirements, organizational values, and employee dignity, while minimizing potential risks.
- Metrics Monitoring and Analysis: Monitor and evaluate employee relations metrics and trends, analyzing data to derive actionable insights and drive continuous improvement in employee relations strategies and practices.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including the Workplace Investigations Team, Compliance, Global Impact, Global Business Services and Human Resources to gather input, ensure alignment, and facilitate successful execution of employee relations policies, practices and strategies.
Qualifications
- Strategic Thinking: Proven ability to think strategically and develop long-term, holistic approaches to complex employee relations challenges.
- Employee Relations: Demonstrated expertise in employment laws, regulations, and industry best practices related to leave and absence management, employee separation, compliance, risk management, and employee relations.
- Team Leadership: Success in leading teams and coaching talent to drive top performance.
- Labor Relations: Familiarity with labor relations principles and practices, with experience navigating unionized environments preferred.
- Relationship Management: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and concisely.
- Executive Presence: Ability to influence and engage senior leadership, presenting insights and recommendations with confidence and credibility.
- Conflict Management: Proficiency in conflict resolution techniques, with a track record of managing and resolving employee disputes effectively.
- Front Line Employee Experience: Experience setting strategy and policies for hourly front line employees.
