We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Head of People & Culture to lead our HR strategy and build a high-performing, inclusive, and engaged workplace as we scale. This role will be responsible for developing and executing talent acquisition strategies, fostering a culture of growth and belonging, and implementing best-in-class HR processes. As a key partner to leadership, you will shape policies, manage compensation and benefits, oversee compliance, and champion employee experience. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced startup environment, is passionate about people development, and has a strategic yet hands-on approach to scaling teams and culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Employee Engagement & Culture: Foster a driven and inclusive workplace by implementing engagement programs, and team-building activities, while serving as a trusted employee advocate.
- Compensation, Benefits & Payroll: Design competitive compensation structures, manage payroll for employees and contractors, oversee benefits, equity, and bonus structures, and ensure compliance with employment laws.
- Performance Management & Growth: Lead performance review processes, develop career growth frameworks, and implement learning and development (L&D) strategies to retain and develop top talent.
- HR Compliance & Policy Management: Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal employment laws, maintain HR policies, employee handbooks, and handle conflict resolution and disciplinary actions.
- HR Systems & IT Coordination: Oversee HR tools for payroll, benefits, and performance tracking, manage employee records, and coordinate with IT to support employee hardware and software needs.
- Strategic HR Leadership: Act as a key partner to leadership, providing data-driven insights and HR strategies that align with company goals and scaling needs.
- Workplace Experience & Recognition: Manage employee gifting programs, including holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries, to foster a culture of appreciation and recognition.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of HR leadership experience, preferably in a high-growth startup or fast-paced environment.
- Deep knowledge of employment laws, HR compliance, and best practices across multiple locations.
- Proven ability to develop and implement talent acquisition, onboarding, and initiatives.
- Strong experience in compensation planning, benefits administration, payroll processing, and performance management.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and influence at all levels of the organization.
- Must be located in or willing to relocate to the Santa Fe, New Mexico area.
